Vonder Haar Center for the Performing Arts

About Vonder Haar Center

Vonder Haar Center for the Performing Arts offers professional and pre-professional classes in a variety of performing arts disciplines to students of all ages – toddler to adult professional. We are dedicated to fostering talent and developing young artists. Our philosophy is that all of our students should be held to the same high standards, and those who do not aspire to careers in the performing arts should not be penalized by less than professional training. If you want a baby-sitter this is not the place. If you want excellent instruction from professionals in their fields (from Broadway, New York City Ballet, Dusseldorf Ballet, Joffrey…) in an atmosphere that is disciplined yet fun, creative and non-competitive then this is the place to study.

The Vonder Haar Center for the Performing Arts offers classes – for students age 3 to adult - in ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, Spanish dance, acting, voice, musical theatre and Pilates. There are many opportunities here for personal and artistic growth; multiple performance opportunities throughout the year, study/performance trips both here and abroad, and the chance to develop in a company environment. Vonder Haar Center proudly boasts ballet, tap, theatre and musical theatre companies. Whatever your talent, this is the place to study.

Our Resident Companies

Vonder Haar Center is home to seven resident companies which allow for students in different disciplines to develop their talents and to hone their performing skills.

The Senior, Junior, and Youth Ballet Companies allow the advanced ballet dancers, the intermediate students, and younger aspiring ballerinas the opportunity to develop and perform throughout the year. They participate in two major ballets and our February Arts Festival each year as well as performing at various other venues.

The Musical Theatre Ensemble presents at least two mounted shows per year in addition to other outside performances. These triple threats performed in Hong Kong in July, 2007, and will tour Europe in the summer, 2009, and will be accompanied by members of the resident Ballet Companies.

The Tap Company performs throughout the year and is expanding its repertoire with new works by guest choreographers.

The Apprentice Tap Company provides performance and growth opportunities to budding hoofers.

The Theatre Company, which operates as a production class, mounts two productions a year. In its first season, it presented THE JUNGLE BOOK and SIDEWALKS AND SNEETCHES.

Vonder Haar Center for the Performing Arts Companies are available to perform at community events of all kinds. Please contact Tracy Vonder Haar, Artistic Director, at 818-790-5775 for information.
